The Liwan is a traditional architectural feature commonly found in old Arab and Gulf homes. It is an open or semi-open space, often covered, located in the middle or front of the house, facing the northern direction, which typically receives cool breezes and refreshing air. The Liwan is known for being a shaded area, offering a comfortable place to relax and providing a welcoming and safe atmosphere for both residents and visitors.
Since ancient times, the “liwan” has been a symbol of hospitality, a sign of beauty and warmth that emanates from the doors of our homes. It was the place where family members and guests gathered, where stories were told, and memories were made.
Inspired by this, the idea of “Liwan” Collect was born.
At Khat Gallery, we recommend decorating the Liwan with the beauty of Arabic calligraphy or natural stone carvings in their beautiful colors to complete the experience.
